Mary Berry Waldorf Salad is a British-style take on the traditional Waldorf salad, combining apples, grapes, celery, and walnuts with a simple mayonnaise-based dressing. Unlike versions overloaded with dressing, this one keeps the coating light so the fruit and nuts remain the focus.
Crisp apples (such as Granny Smith or Braeburn) – 2 large, cored and diced
Seedless grapes – 150 g, halved
Celery sticks – 2, finely sliced
Walnuts – 75 g, lightly toasted and roughly chopped
Mayonnaise – 4 tablespoons
Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
Salt – to taste
Black pepper – to taste
Prepare the apples – Dice the apples and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Prepare the fruit and veg – Add grapes and sliced celery to the bowl.
Toast the walnuts – Lightly toast in a dry pan, then chop once cooled.
Make the dressing – Mix mayonnaise with salt and black pepper until smooth.
Combine gently – Fold the dressing through the salad ingredients.
Finish with walnuts – Add walnuts last to keep their crunch.
