Mary Berry Ranch Dip

Mary Berry Ranch Dip - recipe card

A classic creamy ranch dip inspired by Mary Berry’s elegant simplicity. This no-cook blend of sour cream, Greek yogurt, and mayonnaise is brightened with fresh herbs and a touch of lemon, yielding a tangy, herby dip perfect for crudités or chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream (120g)
  • 1/2 cup full-fat plain Greek yogurt (120g)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (60g)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (15ml)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, Greek yogurt, and mayonnaise. Use a rubber spatula or whisk to blend until smooth and uniform — this ensures the base is creamy without lumps.
  2. Add the fresh lemon juice and stir gently. The acidity brightens the flavors and helps balance the richness of the dairy.
  3. Sprinkle in the chopped dill, parsley, and chives. Reserve a pinch of each for garnish if desired. Fresh herbs are key for a vibrant, garden-fresh ranch taste; avoid dried herbs here as they can overpower.
  4. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly to distribute the seasonings evenly. Taste and adjust salt or pepper to your preference.
  5. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or airtight container. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving — this resting time allows the flavors to meld and the dip to thicken slightly.
  6. Before serving, give the dip a final stir. If it has thickened too much, whisk in a teaspoon of milk or water to restore a dippable consistency.
  7. Garnish with the reserved fresh herbs and a light crack of black pepper. Serve chilled with fresh vegetable crudités, potato chips, or as a topping for baked potatoes.

Notes

Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Do not freeze — the dairy will separate upon thawing, ruining the texture. If making ahead, add the fresh herbs just before serving for the brightest color and flavor. For a thinner dressing consistency, whisk in 2–3 tablespoons of buttermilk or whole milk after chilling.
