Mary Berry Cream Cheese and Herb Dip

Mary Berry Cream Cheese and Herb Dip - recipe card

A creamy, tangy dip made with full-fat cream cheese, fresh chives and parsley, and a hint of lemon. Perfect for spreading on crackers or serving with crudités, this no-cook recipe comes together in minutes and improves with a short chill.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, preferably full-fat
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced (about 1/2 teaspoon)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl. Use a rubber spatula to press and stir it until smooth and free of lumps. Softening the cream cheese to room temperature ensures a silky, homogeneous dip without lumps.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, chives, parsley, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Stir with the spatula or a wooden spoon until all ingredients are fully combined and the herbs are evenly distributed. The mayonnaise adds richness and helps loosen the texture.
  3. Taste the dip and adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or lemon juice as desired. It should be well-seasoned but not overly salty. The lemon juice brightens the flavors and balances the richness of the cream cheese.
  4. For best flavor, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This resting time allows the herbs to infuse the dip. If serving immediately, transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with extra chives.

Notes

Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Do not freeze, as the texture will become watery and grainy upon thawing. Stir well before serving if the dip has separated slightly. For a thinner consistency, stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk or cream.
